2023-2024

The Shakespeare intensive taught by Steve Maurice Jones, sought to take Shakespeare of his pedestal so we could make the words our own. Matthew worked as Richard III, Hamlet, and Mercutio.

Directed and Written by Lili Marble, Lipstick is a horror film that interrogates the unattainable standard of beauty for women. This was Matthew’s valuable first experience working with real film and the challenge of two takes.

BWI was a postmodernist surrealist play, inspired by films The Menu and Triangle of Sadness. Dianne, Louise, and Matthew devised three character manifestations of: The exploitation of virtue signalling, social media, and language. Matthew took these characters and wrote a hell where the party never ends and Satan is a therapist.

Matthew started as an exchange student when the rest of the cohort had experienced 2 years, best described by the Dark arts position at Hogwarts, unstable. In the spring of 2024, he chose to stay for the rigorous question of the course: How do your artistic ethics and aesthetics tie to your day to day actions. It was the next step for Matthew who had always used acting to nurture his connection to humanity.
2022-2023

Directed by Joey Marcacci, Tartuffe Kiss My Ass was a queer adaptation of Moliere’s play. In Marcacci’s world clown families live in big tents protected from the Grey disease that lays outside. When Tartfuffe, a grey, enters the tent disguised as a clown, the play explores the distinct dangers of a charismatic leader, as each clown eventually assimilates and loses their individuality, becoming Greys.

Choreographed by Sammy Reyes and Filmed by Raymond Ceres, the music video used five different lighting set ups and was filmed over 9 hours. Matthew worked efficiently on lighting setups to help bring Reyes and Ceres vision to life.

Directed by Jamie McKittrick and written and developed by Jess Shoemaker, &Medea asks the timelessly unanswered question of what was happening on the Island before the man came? &Medea was a staged reading with a unique 3 week process where Shoemaker, the creative team, and actors worked together to develop the script, to create Medea and her sister(Hellers) world.

Directed by Jim Peck, the Threepenny Opera in Allentown, PA was a commentary on the new Amazon Warehouse sprawling over the once rural land. On top of Stage Managing duties, Matthew was able to learn from Peck the specificity necessary to bring a behemoth text to life. Peck would often tell actors the story of Michelangelo’s David, saying a great work of art starts with a block of marble, then a big chisel, then tinier and tinier chisels. Peck believed the best story could live in the slight change of an actors pinky
